[07 Apr 2005|11:46am] i sure don't ever post here anymore, but for the sake of casting a broad net ... i just gave my two weeks notice at borders, because i was offered a job yesterday in the development/member services office at the nelson-atkins museum of art. i'm really excited about the job and maybe more on that later. the pressing issue now, of course, is that in two weeks i will lose my employee discount on books/dvds/music! so the question is: any recommendations for things i ought to pick up? any recommendations - things that are good reads/listens/watches, of course, but also things that just seem handy and are maybe kind of expensive - someone has suggested the compact OED to me. i'm thinking about it but i might actually be happier having a good world atlas around instead. <3 geography. 2 comments|post comment

[15 Oct 2002|01:17am] 1:16 am. i am on my third page of my second paper. i have a class of water. i have a zit on my chin. it sounds like my upstairs neighbors are vacuuming, but it has sounded like this for at least 45 minutes and they simply cannot have that much carpet, or an apartment that large. or carpet that dirty, for that matter. maybe i am having aural hallucinations. i am certainly having visual ones. post comment

oh and [01 Oct 2002|09:00pm] [ music | H?sker D? - Hate Paper Doll ] i lost my damned upass yesterday. upass is the free public transit pass... well, not exactly free, you pay about $45/term, but it's a lot cheaper than it would normally cost. at any rate, it's the discounted pass you get as a university student in chicago. and i lost mine. what this means is that i have to find a way to miss either class or work this week to get downtown to chicago transit authority headquarters between 8 am and 4:30 pm to pay for a replacement. but can they give me the replacement there? oh no. it apparently takes up to three weeks for it to be mailed to me. so now i have one more ridiculous out-of-pocket expense to deal with for the next few weeks. post comment

well okay [22 Sep 2002|03:37pm] now i just have a deadly cough that surfaces every few hours, which isn't so bad. also: remind me to not take nyquil unless i have a few days stretching out ahead of me with no plans or obligates whatsoever. that shit wrecks me for at least 16 hours. this weekend i have no attention span but so much work to do. post comment

it is 12:11 pm [08 Sep 2002|12:11pm] i got in touch with my landlord on thursday about some problems we've been having with the apartment; namely: the bedrooms windows are painted totally shut despite our best efforts to unstick them, the shelf/rod in the roommate's closet collapsed last week, and base of the toilet (where it meets the floor) has been leaking intermittently since we moved in. the landlord said he'd call back on friday to confirm a time but to expect that he'd show up saturday afternoon or sunday morning. three things: 1) he never called back 2) he never showed up saturday afternoon 3) he never showed up sunday morning post comment
